Traditional Reiki Healing
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation. It promotes healing by transferring energy through the hands of the Practitioner over the clothed Client. At Sana Roho we use the 'hands on', non-invasive technique. This technique was founded by Dr Usui Ryoho in the 1930's and aims to balance our chakras by balancing the energy within. A chakra (a Sanskrit word) is a wheel, disc or any circular arrangement. They are immaterial to the body and are composed of vital life force (prana) which are distributed via channels of energy (nadis). They form connections with each of the seven chakras; root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye and crown. The aura, is an emanation of energy which surrounds the body. The aura is outer, the chakras inner, therefore they complement each other.
Reiki is one of the safest forms of healing. A person cannot receive too much Rieki. It is available to everyone.
Reiki can be performed by various methods. It can be performed in-house (the Client comes to the practitioners' house) or 'distant'. Distant reiki can be received by the Client in two ways; via video consult, or while the Client sleeps at night. With video consult, the Client is present in their own house lying or sitting down in a quiet, safe space such as their bedroom. The Practitioner calls for the Client's energy to come to them and the Practitioner performs Reiki using an inanimate object which acts as a receptacle for the Client's energy. At Sana Roho, the inanimate object of choice is a lovely stuffed Teddy called 'Ray'! The Client will see the Practitioner performing Reiki on Ray and the Client will receive the `reiki from the comfort of their own home.
For sleeping Reiki, the Practitioner performs Reiki in the same way as video consult. The difference is that the Client does not need to be present. The Practitioner performs the Reiki during the day and then sends the Reiki up to the night sky, which will then be released when the Client sleeps at night. Great for busy people who find it hard to make time for themselves due to work/life commitments.
For adults and children with, for example, autism, ADHD, special needs, sensory issues; sleeping Reiki is ideal.
If having an in-house treatment, a weighted blanket can be provided if beneficial for the Client.
Children's Reiki is a shorter treatment due to the receptiveness nature and energy that exists within them.

Reflexology
The Ancient Chinese therapies of acupressure and acupuncture are believed to have influenced the development of reflexology but the birth of reflexology came about by an Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist by the name of Dr. William Fitzgerald. He noticed that by pressing on one part of the body- another part of the body would be anaesthetised! He divided the body into ten longitudinal zones based on his trials. These zones formed the basis for the development of reflexology and are still used today. Fast forward a decade or so where Eunice Ingham, a physiotherapist, focused on these zones, but in the feet. She found that by applying pressure to certain points on the feet, certain parts of the body were affected. Hence foot reflexology was developed.
Reflexology works by finding imbalances through these pressure points on the feet or hands and treating them, thus restoring balance. The imbalance may be physical or emotional in nature. The treatment is an extremely relaxing process and through a number of treatments (your therapist will recommend how many), balance gets restored. In most cases, Clients report an improvement in symptoms within the first few days after their first treatment as the healing process begins immediately. The body will eliminate the toxins released during treatment. This process is sped up by taking in extra water in the days after our treatment. Foot reflexology does not tickle but for those with sensory issues around the feet, hand reflexology is a great substitute.

Hopi Ear Candling
Originating from the Hopi (pronounced 'hope eye') Native American tribe, candling is based on the elements of fire, smoke and herbs for healing properties, both physical and emotional. It is a very safe and effective treatment for all ages. Candling does not create a vaccuum in the ear but rather a very mild suction action at the base of the candle which can help to loosen impacted cerumen (ear wax). You can hear the calming sizzle of the candle as it works. If a vaccuum was present, you would not hear this sumptuous sound. It is wonderful for all ear, nose and throat morbidities. It can stimulate vascularistaion, invigorate the immune system and reinforce the flow of lymph, all of which are important for growth, healing and keeping the body working properly. 'Biosun' ear candles are used at Sana Roho. These are the traditional candles used by the Hopi tribe.
